The Rockmart Civic Arts Commission  is offering several arts classes for now and the upcoming months.

·        Pottery (Open Studio)
All ages
Continues Every Tuesday beginning January 3, 2012
Work at your own pace – Any level of expertise
Time: 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM
Cost $12.00 per session – Includes all materials, glazing, firing, and instruction
Payments can be made weekly or in advance.

·        Whittling Class
Ages 8 and up
Begins Monday, January 9, 2012 – 4 week session
Time: 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM
Cost: Tuition - $40.00 + $5.00 Supply Fee to be paid to instructor on first day of class.
Students must provide a locking blade pocket knife.

Two Saturdays – January 7 and January 14, 2012
Time: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Topics include: Surface Prep, Product and Technique Overview, Practical application of 3 – 4 decorative finishes, including 2 – 3 wall finishes on sample boards, 1 with stencil technique and 1 trim/furniture finish  
Cost: Tuition - $70.00 + $15.00 Supply Fee to be paid to instructor on first day of class.

·        Set up and use of sewing machines
o   Threading the bobbin
o   Threading the machine
·        Materials
o   Types, weight, and grain of materials
o   Measuring techniques to purchase materials
·        Class Projects
o   Apron, or
o   Pillowcase
Student provides sewing machine, iron, extra needles, and scissors
Instructor provides thread, patterns, ironing boards, bobbins, and material

• Piano LessonsClasses available Mondays beginning at 1 PM and the last class will begin at 8 PM.
  Individual lessons are up to 45 minutes - $18.00
  Group lessons would be up to 1 hour –  2 students - $10.00 each
                                                                                  3 students - $ 7.50 each
                                                                                  4 students - $ 8.00 each
                                                                                  5 students - $ 9.00 each
  Open to ages 8 and up. (Students need to have passed 2^nd grade or be reading English or Spanish on a 2^nd grade level.)
  English and Spanish classes are offered.
  Eligible students must have a piano or touch sensitive keyboard at home to practice between lessons.
  All students need a spiral notebook just for piano, a pocket folder and a pencil.
  The teacher will supply staff paper as needed.
  The teacher will provide the music, but will recommend music the student can buy as well.
